I really liked this article about the 4 phases of developing your creative voice. I’ve been working and striving as a photographer for what feels like a really long time now, and it’s only been in the last few years that I’ve stopped just baldly copying other people’s ideas and photographic styles, and started really focusing on my own work…. what I like about it, what I don’t, what I would like to incorporate into it, and what I want to move away from.

The quote at the end of the article by Phillip Glass really rang true for me; “…the real issue, I’ve always said to younger composers, it’s not how do you find your voice but how to get rid of it.” It’s very similar to what I was trying to express in my “Avoiding the Trap of Knowledge” post a while back.
