I always liked this picture of Shelby from last winter, but somehow never got around to actually editing it. So yesterday I took a pass at it, and tried to do a sort of Yousef Karsh thing. He was a photographer who would very carefully control the tonal range in his pictures by actually shading the negatives with a soft lead pencil. I used photoshop, but tried to do more or less the same thing. It’s a good exercise, and I like how the final image came out.
